Aiforgood, Artificial Intelligence for Good

AI for Good, an initiative by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations agency, aims to highlight the beneficial aspects of artificial intelligence. Launched in 2017, this initiative gathers global participants annually to showcase efforts in AI that contribute to actions, products, and research for the greater good. The upcoming summit is scheduled to take place in Geneva from July 8 to 11.

This summit has evolved into a key platform for the United Nations to engage in discussions about artificial intelligence. It focuses on identifying innovative AI applications, developing competencies and standards, and fostering partnerships to tackle global issues. The ITU collaborates with over 40 organizations, all of which have received endorsement from the Swiss government for the new policy set for the 2025 edition.

The overarching goal of this initiative is to create a movement that leverages AI to confront challenges faced by the global community. Concurrently, discussions are ongoing regarding the establishment of regulatory standards that encourage innovation while ensuring the holistic development of human societies. This forum provides an opportunity for various stakeholders to convene and reach consensus on the governance of AI for the common good.
