Who are we
It is an international association of professionals, scholars, researchers and operators of communication and information technology.
It is a space for dialogue without borders where professional experiences, cultural insights, training courses, actions and projects can be shared, for a media communication that arouses fraternity.
It is inspired by the principles and values of the spirituality of unity proposed by Chiara Lubich, one of the spiritual personalities of the 20th century and founder of the Focolare Movement.
It is a network of communicators who, through cultural and media products, accompany processes of peace, social redemption, understanding, care for creation, respect for the dignity of every person and every community, and knowledge of digital frontiers.
It is a relationship between fields of research and working paths, between operators and scholars, between cultures and faiths, between virtual and real, between the many Norths and the many Souths of the world.
NetOne is an association of professionals, scholars, researchers, and communication operators.
It is an international network, promoted by the Focolare Movement, established in June 2000.
It serves as a space for dialogue, where members share professional experiences, cultural insights, educational paths, actions, and projects, aimed at fostering media communication that inspires brotherhood.
Our projects don’t offer definitive conclusions, but rather ideas and proposals that stem from the life and thought of the “Culture of Unity,” born from the spirituality of unity proposed by Chiara Lubich, and then articulated along the journey that each person and various reference groups have been able to synthesize in their own paths.
NetOne emphasizes the relational aspect of life. The relationality that seeks to build universal brotherhood by engaging for others and their needs. We are communicators committed to offering cultural products that promote peace and unity.
This expression summarizes the fruits of our work and our life oriented towards the realization of universal brotherhood and the creation of conditions that allow the birth of new ideas and paths that somehow favor the uni-diversity of our great human family.
There is a word that embraces our interests: the word “dialogue.”
Currently, there is a working group on action-research paths related to the field of generative communication, which offers alternatives for community growth with a type of development based on caring for the dignity of every person.
Another line of work is “dialogic” journalism that brings together different parties, encourages confrontation even when it seems impossible, and seeks common ground for shared and sharable solutions to various conflicts (for example, on the topic of human mobility: forced migrations).
We have another interest related to all the transformations that arise from the challenges of the digital world and their impact on all spheres of the social world.
Algorithms increase communion and democracy but also distances and contrasts; if we grow in this awareness and add others to our dream, we can experience a new time in which the human community can find itself again, and we can rediscover ourselves as sisters and brothers.
Another perspective addresses the issue of socio-political dialogue, where we want to create a method for constructive dialogue between antagonistic groups.
We also deal with intercultural communication and the study of dialogic methodologies to resolve conflicts in an increasingly fragmented and polarized society.
Recognizing that we are one human family, integrating our beliefs and cultures, we experience living this conviction concretely, which has very simple principles:
We try to learn from other cultures, from the lives of those close to us who are not only geographically different but also socially distinct.
We want to give our best and be ready to receive the gift that the other offers us. Because reciprocity is one of the fundamental principles of our proposal for intercultural dialogue.
We also propose to preserve diversity, because each person and each social group is irreplaceable and is called to make their contribution to the social whole.
We are guided by the strong conviction that this fraternal lifestyle is for everyone. We affirm this strongly, against mentalities that, by action or omission, “discard” people.
We believe it is possible to achieve the “unity of opposites.”
This presupposes a continuous commitment to the search for what unites us, seen as a starting point, because we are united by our belonging to the same human family.
Method
Dialogue

as a methodology of work and research, as an instrument of conflict resolution, as a place of acceptance of complexity and differences, as a desk for learning about cultures and valorization of uniqueness, as a criterion for exploring new virtual worlds, as a bridge linking communication to the social and political worlds, as a life-style that sees in the other a gift to one’s own humanity, as a relationship which builds our common belonging to the human family
